Ponshu
Original logos for Northwest Calgary's newest Japanese izakaya.
Inspired by the simplicity of the sake bottle and the aesthetic of present day sake labels. Ponshu's main influence is based around sake and its drinking culture. We took the traditional roots of the featured "po" character in the icon and showcased it in a clean and modern way to appeal to millenials and young families. A combination of Swiss design and Japanese influence to achieve the Ponshu image.
Since opening in late 2020, Ponshu has been featured in Avenue Magazine, Curiocity Calgary, DailyHive, URBA Media, and was listed in Calgary Herald's "Best New Calgary Restaurants of 2020".
